Is pain clouding your clarity?

wendigiuliano

If you have ever been in pain before you know it’s HARD to focus and clarity is not so easy because all you can think about is the PAIN!! It’s challenging for sure but I am giving it my all! How am I doing it…..it’s a MAGIC Therapy called Gratitude!! Yes Gratitude produces positive outcomes in nearly every health and wellness situation. It can boost your immune system, lower blood pressure, increase optimism (decrease depression), spark up your love life and generally help you cope with life crisis’.

I have had a gratitude journal for years now and I remember in the beginning I would write one sentence on the page as I tried to think of something I was thankful that day. NOW I write a whole page and what is so interesting to me is the more thankful I am the more that flows to me! So in the last couple weeks with this injury I have being super focused on gratitude. Thanking the water in the shower for wash away all that no longer serves me, thanking those who have helped me either care by providing a service or those who have my back to “cover” for me in life or work. I am super thankful when I have some relief after resting or if I actually sleep at night. I am flooding my day with gratitude because really things could be worse right?

So if you are reading this and thinking how can I fit gratitude into your day or life, let me offer some tips:

  1. Every day, say aloud three good things that happened. Maybe this is simply around the dinner table before you eat.

  2. Start a gratitude journal. And know it may be one word to start but if you stick to it I can guarantee you will have a full page very soon.

  3. Saying thanks to your partner. Then you both feel as if your needs are being met and builds trust and intimacy.

  4. Cool your temper. One of the quickest ways to change your mood is focusing your attention on what’s good.

  5. Thank yourself. I call this SELF LOVE. I am giving myself love as I hold my hand over a spasming muscle and send it LOVE.

  6. Three gratitude messages a week. Isn’t it fun when you text or pm someone just to say HI and I appreciate you!

  7. Hold on to the good moments. I keep envisioning myself on Maui walking the beach with my new fur friend Rocky. Ahh holding on to those moments that brought me so much joy and remember how my body felt and the thoughts I had.

  8. What are the silver linings? What is this teaching me and WOW look at all those helping me!

  9. Outward not inward. These women I am surrounding myself with at this event will allow me to focus on them and stop all the inward thoughts.

  10. Perspective. I keep telling myself it could be worse because I know others going through far more pain and suffering and I will heal and be back to my self soon!
